The Great Godden - Meg Rosoff

I first came across Meg Rosoff when I picked up a random English book (English is not my native language) at my local library years ago. That book was What I Was and that random pick turned out to be a lucky coincidence, because I immediately fell in love with it. Strangely though I never picked up another book by her. Actually kind of weird, because I think How I Live Now is her most popular book. Anyway, when I was browsing my audiobook library, I found this one and thought "great time to start another one".

I read The Great Golden in only 2 days. I don't love it as much as I love What I Was, but I did really like it. Never saw that plot twist coming (same with What I Was btw). I think I liked Hugo the best, he was kind of grumpy at first, but I knew he would turn out to be the best character. I hoped he would be the one the main character ended up with, but I like them as best friends as well. Oh, I also think the cover is just beautiful.

This is supposed to be the first part in a Summer-themed trilogy, so I'm definitely looking forward to book 2.
